Gautam Adani sees politics behind the green troubles faced by his group and advises parties against targeting corporates to further their political agenda. In an interview to with ET , the Adani Group chairman addresses the allegation of the government waiving a Rs 200-crore fine imposed on Adani Port & SEZ, as well as speaking on a range of topics — from Narendra Modi using the company’s aircraft to Subramanian Swamy’s tirade against Raghuram Rajan and the group’s debt. Edited excerpts:
Can you clear the air on the Rs 200-crore fine?
What was this PIL all about? Who filed it? How did this PIL ensure formation of the Sunita Narain committee (that recommended the fine)?
The petitioner put a series of PILs. There is not a single community in that area who has opposed this development or isn’t benefitting from it. The opposition is politically motivated. We are very proud of the development that is taking place there.
